·Timebomb·

Haven't popped yet. It's weird to live like a time bomb. People keep calling me to see if I've gone off yet. I'm full of random aches and pains now, but everytime I wince or say ow, everyone around me jumps and asks, "Are you ok??"

Today is the last day Andrew and I have by ourselves as just a young couple, so we're trying to make it special. I'm not exactly at my most social and mobile, but we're going to go out to our favorite pizza place now for lunch and then rent a movie and have leftovers tonight. It'll be nice.

That is...if my timer doesn't go off before then!!

If I don't post again for a while, I apologize. Know that I'll have my baby by Monday afternoon at the very latest. Hopefully when it does happen, I'll be able to get a hold of someone who can comment on here and give everyone the update. Wish me luck!

·"Last Time" This, "Last Time" That·

Friday night was a friend's surprise 30th birthday party. At the spur of the moment, we decided to invite everyone we knew there over to our house for a Poker Night Saturday night. After all, it's probably the last time we'll have any sort of major social gathering at our place for a long time. (Definitely last time in Gainesville) We grilled out some burgers and hot dogs and then played Texas Hold 'Em the rest of the night. We had seven people show up at 7pm, and they didn't leave until 3am! Wow. I guess it was a hit!

Everything we do nowadays seems to carry the "Last Time" designation. It has suddenly reminded me of our oddly morbid Prom Theme: "It May Be the Last Time." I'll never know why anyone thought that was a good theme. I still have the stupid champagne flute somewhere that says that.

I think I need to change the countdown on the side of this blog. If I don't go into labor this week, I'm being induced on May 1...one week. We're down to single digits here, people!

·It's for Real·

I know I just keep repeating myself at this point, but every now and then it hits me that I only have a week and a half at most before I have a daughter. That just seems crazy. You'd think having nine months to get used to the idea would be enough time to let it sink it, but it really hasn't. In one and a half weeks, my life will be forever, forever changed. Not even just a little bit either. I'm talking the biggest possible life change ever. Nothing else could ever approach this. I hope I know what I'm doing!

·Still Here·

I had my weekly appointment yesterday. Things have progressed a little more since last week. The doctor actually decided to schedule an induction date for me because I seem to be pretty much ready! If I don't deliver before then, Anna will be born May 1! WOW. In a week and a half or less, I'm going to be a mother. Crazy, crazy, crazy.

Of course, I had a whole bunch of contractions yesterday evening. I was contracting every 4-5 minutes for about 45 minutes. They tell you when you do for an hour that it's time to go to the hospital, so I was just a bit freaked out that this was it!

Things are just crazy and I'm definitely getting much, much less comfortable by the day. Tomorrow there is a surprise 30th birthday party for a friend, but I think that will be my last social outing. As much as I have been wanting to take advantage of these last few weeks and days, I'm just not up to doing much. Sometimes I'll realize at the end of the day that I never even brushed my hair. I look like crap!!

·My "Dream" Baby·

I had a dream last night that we brought our baby home. Everytime I'd look at her, she'd look different, but always completely horrid. Sometimes she'd have this ugly horseface. Sometimes she'd look like a horrible old lady with too much makeup and three too many facelifts. It was bizarre. I'll be so relieved to have my baby just look like an actual human baby at this point after all that!

·Loose Ends...Check!·

By the end of today, I will officially have all loose ends tied up. Every last one. All tax info sent out, both personal and business. All bills paid, both personal and business. All bills for the business sent. All thank you notes sent. All business orders fulfilled. All meetings held. All paperwork filed. All orders placed. Everything. Unless I receive another order this week, I will have nothing to do with the business.

The only things we have left for this week is to continue to work on the house. We magically liberated several closets yesterday, and every time stuff leaves that front door of ours, I feel added weight lifted off of me. I can't tell you the amazing sense of calm I get walking around my house and seeing in its place. I've never, ever been one for organization. Actually, I'm probably the messiest girl I know. But I must admit, there is something incredibly satisfying about having total tidiness everywhere I look. Maybe it's part of the nesting. I find myself opening and closing every to every closet and room several times a day just to admire it all. I wonder if I'll continue this onto the next house!

One thing I find extremely bizarre is that I have hardly been thinking about labor at all. We go to our classes every Monday night, but besides those two hours, I barely give it a second thought. I have no anxiety about the process, and I'm not sure why. I am a total wimp when it comes to pain, and I have always freaked out watching all those Baby Stories and similar shows. Yet, when I find myself thinking about popping at "any minute," I think more about making sure everything is taken care of so we can bring the baby home peacefully than I think about labor and delivery itself. Very, very odd. I don't know if it's denial or if I'm just accepting the inevitability.

In a weird way (in a very weird way), I'm *almost* looking forward to labor. And I'm not looking forward to it because I think it's going to be easy. I'm not that naive! I'm more looking forward to the intensity of the experience. I never really understood that before, and it's hard to explain. I guess I'm just excited to have that single most unforgettable, important, and intense experience of my life. I'm excited to bear through it, to work through it, and then to be the one to push out and see MY CHILD. No, OUR CHILD. I mean, what can prepare you for what it is like to finally meet such a special person? Who could be more important than the person you and the love of your life created together? This little girl has been living inside of me for nine months now. I know everything she does when she doesn't even know. I feel every kick, every turn, every hiccup. She eats everything I eat. I know that when she comes out, she will be a part of my life forever, and I just want to meet her. I know it's going to be hard. I know labor is the most pain you'll ever feel, and I know that the first month is so difficult to get through, but what else in the world could possibly be worth it all??

·Happy Easter!·

This has been the most non-Easter-ish Easter ever. Not that we really mind. We've just been chugging along as usual. I just don't understand how we don't run out of stuff to do.

Today I'm feeling a little blah. Well, a little a lot blah. I'm so torn as to whether or not I just want to go into labor already. This waiting and any-minute-now is driving me insane, and I certainly don't feel great. However, labor isn't fun, and when I'm done, there is a TON more work to be had. Fortunately, what I want doesn't affect anything. I just have to bear it.

·House Showings·

We received a flood of calls extremely early on when we put our house up, but none of those turned into actual appointments for viewing. We were getting awfully worried. Now, all of a sudden yesterday we showed it twice, and we've shown it once today and have another appointment in a few to show it again. The concensus is that our house is great, which makes us feel good. One of the couples even said "Best one we've seen so far." Let's hope we start getting some offers already in the coming days then! We're feeling more optimistic. Once we get the house sold, we'll be doing great. Adjusting to the baby and surviving the move are going to be huge and difficult, but at least we'll take out all of the unknown elements. We have a place to live up there, and we'll have our place sold down here. It's enough to make me happy considering everything we have going on!

In the meantime, I can't believe how difficult it is to do anything. And when I say anything, I'm not talking about being productive or even walking. I'm talking about sitting, standing, laying down, breathing. You know, the things you have no choice but to have to do. It's amazing how much you take for granted.

·Whew!·

Andrew and I have been running around like mad since last night ever since we got a call from a realtor who wanted to show our place. We were trying to avoid working with one, but he's asked for the smallest commission so far, so we're going to give him a shot. Anyway, finally, we have the place in total showroom condition. I'm wouldn't even be embarrassed about any peeks into closets and cabinets. It's all great. Hopefully we can get an offer before I pop. At this point, we're likely to take the first reasonable offer we get, just to get it over with. Andrew and I determined what the minimum acceptable offer would be, so we're ready to jump on anything above that. We'll see how that goes.

Now that I'm finally catching my breath (my goodness, even making the bed takes it out of me), I'm sitting back here, and this baby is now going insane. When I'm moving, she pretty much stays still. She takes advantage of when I'm sitting or laying down trying to relax to get her energy out. Of course, since this is the first chance I've had all day, she's extra active right now. My belly is stretching this way and that non-stop. It's pretty freaky. And it certainly doesn't feel good. The pressure on my hips is really intense, and every now and then when I get up or she moves, it's so bad I can't help but gasp or yell out in pain. I swear she's trying to crawl out of there herself.

Lane is on her way here to meet me for lunch! I'm excited. She realized this would be the last time seeing me before the baby, so she's driving the two hours, just for lunch! :) How sweet!

·Intense·

I didn't have the baby yesterday, obviously, but things are getting pretty intense. I was contracting all day yesterday, but fortunately, they subsided late last night. I've only had two or three since then. However, I'm absolutely miserable. The pressure in my hips is nearly unbearable. It hurts to walk or move at all. When I do get up, sometimes it feels like she's just about ready to fall out. I feel pretty nauseous too for some reason. Point is, signs are definitely pointing to this baby coming sooner rather than later.

I'll try to remember to update every day in case anyone is checking wondering when I'll pop. Maybe I'll call someone and ask them to post a comment to say when it happened!

·The End/The Beginning is Nigh·

It looks like I'm not having a May baby after all. Not only did the doctor find today that the baby has dropped and that I'm starting to dialate, but I've been having contractions all day long. There hasn't been much regularity to them so far, but some of them have been pretty intense. Basically, I could go at ANY time. Any time. The doctor said it's going to be soon. Could be tonight, could be in two weeks, but we're fairly certain May is out of the picture!!

    HOLY CRAP!!!

·STRESS·

I'm so stressed I could puke.

My huge Davidson order experienced some BIG TIME problems. Problems that could end up in me not only losing them as a client, but also result in me eating several hundred dollars of my own money. Not good.

Also, yet another house in the neighborhood has gone up for sale, bring the total of units with identical floorplans to ours to five. We've spent a lot of time and money advertising so far, and we were expecting to have a ton of calls this weekend for the house. We only got one who did not end up setting up an appointment with us. The only way we can afford our rent next year is to sell this house. I didn't think it'd be a problem, but now I'm getting very concerned that we're going to have to end up dropping the price by $10K just to sell the thing quick and lose out on all of that money in our pockets. We're busy making all of the home improvements we can do ourselves without spending too much money in the hopes of making our place at least the most attractive one in the neighborhood.

Not to mention the fact that this week, I'm officially considered full term, which means that the baby can come at any given moment. I *think* we finally bought everything we're going to need. There were just a couple of things I didn't get from my showers, and I think I have all those miscellaneous items now. The thought that I will have my baby within the next three weeks is pretty scary, though. Wow.

This weekend was my mom's birthday. We went down to Orlando for it, which is the last time I'm leaving town before the baby arrives. I wish I could say I'll be taking it easy these last couple of weeks, but there is just so much to do, I don't see how it's all going to come together. The business, the house, becoming a mom, moving 1200 miles away, hell, even the grocery shopping I have to do today doesn't seem to fit into my day!

·Dog Attack·

We finally had the carpet and tile cleaned today, so I'm sitting out back on the patio on my laptop with Lucky while it dries. It's a gorgeous day here, so I've been enjoying it.

Well, all of a sudden, this girl comes walking with her horrible dog. This dog always barks viciously at Lucky and once got out of their fenced in yard and attacked him while we were taking him on his walk. Fortunately, Andrew was able to separate them quickly and safely that time. Today was not so good. The dog spots Lucky lounging lazily beside me and comes running, getting loose from the girl. Immediately, the two go at it. The girl tries to separate them, but then gets bit on her hand. Finally, I pull pack on his tie-out to see if I can do anything. Fortunately, it clangs the birdbath very loudly and spooks the dogs long enough for the girl to grab her dog and me to grab Lucky. Lucky had three scratches on his face, one under his eye bad enough to have blood smeared around.

Andrew was working in the front on gardening and runs around when he heard all the commotion. I was stunned and couldn't speak, but Andrew immediately starts telling the girl that he just has to learn to control that dog. She goes off saying that our dog is the only dog in the world hers has ever had a problem with and it's not her fault. Not her fault?? Our dog is sitting in our property, properly tied out and supervised, and her dog enters our property to attack our dog, and she has no culpability?? She starts saying how she knows the dog laws and that there was nothing she could do. Umm...actually, I looked, and there are plenty of laws about a dog getting out of an owner's control and injuring person or animal, especially since he was trespassing and everything! I don't know why this girl was so adamant about it not being her problem. She was pissed that we didn't acknowledge that she tried to break it up because her hand was bleeding. Umm...sorry, but that was a stupid thing to do.

Finally she walked away all in a puff. In the meantime, our dog is bleeding, and I feel like I'm going to puke. We called the vet, and they said as long as it didn't continue bleeding (which it hasn't), to clean it out and watch it. If it develops pus or anything in the next few days, that we should take him in. Ugh. I'm so mad.

UGH! People like that piss me off SO bad! A few years ago my oldest brother Brian was walking his dog Murphy when a man walking 2 pit bulls was coming from the opposite direction. His dogs saw Murphy & charged. The guy couldn't control his dogs & they got loose. They ended up almost killing Murphy & my brother ended up having to have surgery on his arm because it was so badly hurt while he tried to save his dog. The guy ran away & they never found him or his dogs.

If anything even remotely like this happens to you guys again, you should call the police or SPCA or whatever agency & report her. It doesn't matter that Lucky is supposedly the only dog he doesn't like. You're lucky he wasn't hurt worse. And just think if you'd already had your baby with you! Sheesh! The woman needs to be arrested & fined & flogged. Be a responsible pet owner for fuck's sake! Grrrrrrr!!!!

WTF??? I just posted a big ole comment & it's gone. Where did it go??

·GO GATORS!!·

Got back from watching the game! Woo!! No one in this town predicted that this team would lead us to the National Championship game. I can't wait until Monday night!!

In other news, I had the longest, worst day in a very, very long time today. I won't go over all the details, but it started off with me almost completely messing up my massive Davidson order. I made it in time for overnight shipment by 5-10 minutes. I had a couple nervous breakdowns in between. While freaking out, Lucky somehow slipped out of the house unnoticed. We got a call from someone saying they had him and found him wandering along the side of the busy road outside our neighborhood. We also had to turn the house upside down in the midst of all the morning chaos because we were going to get all of the carpet and tile professionally cleaned. They called to reschedule after we were so stresed about it and then had to put the house back together so we'd at least have a place to sit. At 2:30pm, finally, we were able to take a break for lunch and headed to Wendy's. I left my purse behind and didn't notice until almost three hours later just before the game!! Luckily, absolutely everything was still inside of it!!

It took me so long to recover from this awful day. On the way to the game, Andrew was like, "Relax. You could be sitting here now having lost the Davidson account, knowing that you screwed them over for this huge donor event, we could be mourning our dog who was hit by a car, and your wallet could have been stolen. Instead, we're on our way to hang out our friends to see the Gators kick some ass." Ok, so since everything worked out perfectly in the end, I guess it wasn't so bad, but trust me, we were on the brink of the worst day ever from the moment I woke up through the late afternoon. I thought I was going to puke most of the day. How I held it together is beyond me.
