·Anna's First Vacation·
Tomorrow Anna and I are leaving for Puerto Rico. I'm definitely not looking forward to the whole flying process, especially given recent changes, but I can't wait to be there! I can't wait for everyone to meet her and for her to be in the place where I grew up. Andrew is going to an engagement party of a college buddy of his. We'll both be back Monday separately.
Today I went to the DMV. What a trip. The DMV is located in an old department store. Seriously. You get your registration in the Misses Sportswear section and your license in the shoe department. I kid you not. It is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. I went and got my ticket to wait to get my license (they were on #34, I got #78), and it turns out I had to go to this other building a mile away to get my VIN number checked before I could register the car. I went and realized that they only took cash, which I didn't have. So the guy behind the register tells me that he'll waive the fee if I give him a ride back to the DMV. Umm...I accepted. When we got there, he told me that he'd move me to the front of the registration line, but when he got me up there, it turns out I had to already have my Rhode Island insurance. D'oh! I have to come back for the registration another day. Too bad since my VIN buddy was giving me an in. (HOW WEIRD IS THAT??)
In the meantime, the license number had only moved to #44. I had to wait an hour and a half before my number finally came up. Ugh. Too bad VIN buddy wasn't friends with any of the license people.
Well, I got my license, and I look like a freaking psycho. Honestly, my picture freaks me out. I'd expect to see a picture looking exactly like that flashed on the screen during the local news about how some crazy lady was found to have child slaves chained in her basement. I feel like just turning myself in with this picture, because I'm obviously about to do something really, really sick.

·And I'm Back!!·
David Gray was AMAZING!!! Just amazing! I am in love with his music even more than I was before. What an incredible musician!
Honestly, he was quite the misfit at the Folk Festival, but that completely worked to my advantage. It was a crowd of couples in their fifties, overgrown hippies. If you had whittled down the crowd to the people who actually knew who the heck this David Gray guy was, there would have been maaaaaybe 50 of us.
I went by myself, which actually was not nearly as weird as I thought it might be. Andrew went to the beach with Anna while I went and had my fun. Since it was just me, I made my way all the way to front and center. David Gray was RIGHT THERE. I took a bazillion pictures with my camera phone. It's too bad I didn't have a real camera to have taken clearer pictures.
Oh it was wonderful to be so close with no one in between him and me. He sang every one of my favorite songs. Babylon, of course, Please Forgive Me, Say Hello Wave Goodbye, Freedom, Shine, Lately. Oh, it was just wonderful. We made eye contact several times throughout the show. I mean, I was one of a handful of people who actually knew all of his songs! Even with the totally clueless crowd, the energy he and the band put forth was incredible. I got so into the music. I was lost in my own world with that music, almost as if it had been my own private concert. So amazing. I was nearly moved to tears on multiple occassions.
Why oh why must he be from the other side of the pond?? Please come back soon, David Gray!!!!!!!!

·Destructive Thoughts·
One thing that is recommended when you are depressed is to take all of those depressing thoughts you are having and label them as Destructive Thoughts. I need to remind myself that they are not legitimate, and, even if they were, they have no place in a positive outlook. Some thoughts are constructive and help you work on areas that need improvement. Some are nothing but destructive. It's amazing how many of my thoughts revolve around physical issues. Makes me feel so superficial. So many of them definitely fall into the TMI category, so that is why I've been resisting writing about them in this blog. It's a hard thing to lose the body you knew for so long, both inside and outside. I think a lot of what is going on is that due to the move, I don't recognize anything around me, but I also don't even recognize myself. It's like I was suddenly put into someone else's life. I don't even feel the same.

·Coming to Terms·
I think I am suffering from depression. The past several weeks have been rough. I don't know if it's my post-partum hormones, if it's that I moved over a thousand miles away and don't know anyone here, if it's that I suddenly muliplied my clothing size, if it's that I don't have time for myself anymore because I give my daughter my all, or, probably, all of the above.
I'm getting help. I'll post more about it later.
